the molly behind the mutt: around town

san francisco is woven into the fabric of who molly mutt is as a company.  (pun intended.)  please enjoy these longtime-local tips for places to caffeinate, eat and hang with your dog in sf from co-founder and molly designer, molly mundt.

what are you favorite places to caffeinate?

on the weekends, i inevitably hit up both reveille coffee, north beach and mazarine at some point for a cappuccino.

pro tips: at reveille, get the almond croissant & find someone to share it with. (or just eat it all yourself.  no judgment.)  at mazarine, i can always be talked into getting a piece of amazing toast or a kouign aman.

in a city full of amazing places to eat, what are your restaurant staples?

on the weekdays, we are an “eat-in” family.  but usually once or twice on weekends i want someone else to cook for me!

  • il casaro: two words: burrata bar.  need i say more?…  scratch that.  four words: burrata bar, pizza + wine
  • chubby noodle: best noodles EVER.
  • park tavern: everything on the menus here is legit.  plus it’s walking distance from my apartment – bonus!
  • cotogna  but only if someone else is paying.  i was taken out to lunch here once, and literally everything was the best thing i had ever eaten.  as a side note, if anyone else wants to gift me another meal here, i would not turn it down and may (definitely) kiss you right on the mouth.

where do you take out-of-town visitors when they want to get their tourist on?

hmmmm…. if they are in the city on a tuesday, thursday or saturday (the best day) morning, i like to go to the ferry building for the farmer’s market. it’s so beautiful, and there is such amazing stuff to taste and take home.  another great way to see the city is to just walk around. there are so many interesting and fun streets to wander.  i always take out-of-town guests to valencia street and then walk to dolores park.

where do you like to take your dogs pickle & bean around town?

the closest park to my apartment is washington square park. it’s technically “leash on” park, but we dog people take it over for about 2 hours a day to let the pigs run around.  we are at this park at least 4-5 days a week!  when we are not there, we can be found at crissy field, which is an offleash park by the beach. it’s a dog paradise!
